Case study: Hotels Booked
This company specialises in taking calls to book discounted holidays and regularly sends an email to their customer base each month.
The emails generated so many calls in a short space of time that their 10 seat call centre could not cope with the influx of calls nor were there enough spare lines available to carry all the calls into the call centre.
- The free Instantswitchboard was used to "stack the calls" on the Switchboard network and play on hold music to the callers. We then passed the callers through to the call centre as lines became available.
- Missed call alerts were used to help agents call back customers at their convenience once the peak calls had settled down. The agents printed a "missed call report" from the stats page.
- The only non standard part of this solution was our Instantswitchboard team being asked to ring all available call centre lines simultaneously as calls came in. This is something we can do for larger customers if required.
Case Study: McDonald's 2 for 1 offer on cinema Tickets
A third party promotions company was employed by McDonald's to offer a fixed cost promotion to their customers offering a 2 for 1 deal on cinema tickets. Promotion of this was national through all the McDonald's restaurants.
Because the promotion was a fixed cost, all expenses had to be carefully examined in order that the profitability of the promotion was maintained for the third party organiser.
- The organiser had two smaller call centres to take both phone orders and customer service calls. The Free Instant switchboard was used to stack callers at network level and distribute calls equally between the two call centres.
- We were asked to build a special on hold music reel for the on hold music, which we did in a few days.
- The promotion was a huge success and the company was very happy with the solution we offered. Towards the end of the promotion one of the call centres experienced a fault for a few hours and was not able to take calls. We automatically diverted all calls to the second call centre and averted callers not being able to reach a customer service agent. This demonstrates the "disaster recovery" aspect of the free Instantswitchboard.
